What is the age limit to fly drones?

The age limit for operating drones in Norway is 16 years. The pilot can be younger if flying under the direct supervision of a pilot 16 years old or older. Both pilots must have passed the online course and exam if the drone weighs more than 250 grams.

If the drone weighs less than 250 grams, the pilots do not need to have passed the exam. The pilot responsible for the operation must by registered at flydrone.no. The drone must be marked with the operator registration number and you need to have liability insurance

If the drone weighs less than 250 grams and is in addition marked as a tøy, then no exam, registration or insurance is required. We recommend that the responsible pilot still takes the course and exam, which is freely available at flydrone.no. Drones marked with "8+" on the package can be assumed to be defined as a tøy.
